Louise Thompson - National Sales Manager
“I get as much support and help as I need from my boss. But I don’t get micro-managed.”

How do we win exciting new business? Much of that’s down to Louise Thompson, who works in Sales Management. Drawing on 20 years’ experience within the parcel industry, she and her team secure all kinds of contracts, including £multi-million deals. Much of Louise’s success relies on getting the best out of her seven-strong team: “We make sure they’ve got the tools for the job and know how to on-board clients.”

Louise works with a colleague in a similar role and reports to the Head of Sales, aiming for a volume target of about £4.2m. Having been with Hermes for over four years, Louise has a good sense of how it compares to competitors. She feels there’s a supportive, open culture, where “people will always stop and have a chat.” But ultimately, she feels it’s the sense of direction that makes the business a good place to work: “There’s a clear strategy and transparency – for me, that’s the main factor.”

“Here, you can easily speak to the CEO. It’s an open door policy.”

“Most people stay because of the flexibility and the fairness.”

“It’s a corporate company but with a family feel. You can bring your own style to the job.”
